Be Impressed of Underground River

It has never been so hard to travel alone. It sounds funny, but 9 of my friends did not come. We were supposed to be 10 on this trip, but only I pushed through. Moving on, I still had fun though.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan has so much to offer in terms of tourist spots and tours. The tourism is really exceptional, and they are really good. The airport is easy to access from the main road. I even just walked from the airport to the hotel where I stayed.

There are many hotels or accommodations that you can easily choose that are really affordable just near the airport. Most hotels offer or have partnerships with tour and travel companies, making it easier for you to get around Puerto Princesa.

If you are into online booking for your hotel, you can check through Agoda or Travelbook. These are the websites that I mostly use every time I travel. Travelbook has discounts and less value than walk-in. They also have a payment option to pay at the hotel.

There is lots to do during your visit to Puerto Princesa. You can even DIY (Do it yourself) if you want to tour the city, but for me, I did pay 500 for the City Tour that includes the van and snacks for less hassle.

You will be fetched from your hotel and taken on a half-day sightseeing tour of Puerto Princesa. This sightseeing tour aims to show you, within a few hours, the main landmarks of the city of Puerto Princesa. Puerto Princesa is the capital of Palawan province and serves as the main gateway for visitors that are on their way to visit the Underground River, El Nido, and San Vicente.

This tour will take you along a route passing the City Hall, the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, the Boulevard, the Eulalia Park and the Plaza Cuartel, a restored ruin of a Japanese military base built during World War II.

The tour continues to Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (formerly known as Crocodile Farm), where you can see the captivating reptiles, ranging from babies to full-grown giants.

Apart from crocodiles, the center takes care of other animals, some of them endemic to Palawan Island. After the Crocodile Farm, you will be taken to Mitra’s Ranch for a panoramic view of Puerto Princesa and Baker’s Hill, where you can enjoy the beautiful garden landscape and taste local delicacies. The last stop will be at the Plaza Cuartel.

After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

On the next day, I decided to have the Underground river tour that cost me PHP 1,100 only because I was able to negotiate to lower down the price. It is already included the Van and buffet for lunch and a tourist guide. Since I was alone, I was able to meet new friends because the capacity of the van is 10 people.
